Meet the Trainer

My name is Adam York and I am the lead dog trainer / Owner of Live Free K9. I am originally from Plymouth, NH and now reside in beautiful Haverhill, NH. After spending over  20 years in the United States Marine Corps I wanted to return home and help as many dogs and owners as I can in the area that I grew up. I attended the Highland K9 Master Trainer course and graduated with honors.  Now I want to take the balanced approach I learned to help you and your dog have the best life possible together.

Live Free K9 Training Tips

Patience is key!!

Setting boundaries and rules will create a better relationship.

Keep training short and fun!!

Training your dog can be frustrating to say the least. One thing I have learned working with hundreds of dogs is calmness and patience are the key to a successful training session. Remember, Dogs can smell cancer so they can absolutely detect if you're mad or stressed. Take a breath and keep working at it, It will happen.

Keep training short and fun!!

Dogs have a very short attention span and trying to keep it can feel like an impossible task. When you bring your dog out to train, Make sure you keep the session fun and exciting for the dog. This will help them to pay attention to you and not the squirrel across the lawn. In dog training shorter sessions will often equal much more success.

Setting boundaries and rules will create a better relationship.

Setting boundaries and rules will create a better relationship.

Dogs want a leader and someone who will have their best interest in mind. Being that leader for your dog and always advocating for them will strenghten your bond more than anything else. Your dog should be looking at you for guidance and not trying to make decisions on their own. Having this level of focus from your dog will equal much more confidence and a calmer life for them.
